I admit it, although I have eaten at most of the Walt Disney World restaurants, I tend to stick with my favorites. Every once in a while though, something new becomes available that peaks my interest. This is one of those times.
There is a new restaurant coming to Disney Springs! Homecoming: Florida Kitchen and Sunshine will be opening in Summer, 2016 and will serve food from the renowned chef Art Smith.
The restaurant will be themed to Florida architecture of the late 1800s that they are calling “rustic chic”. Menu items include Southern favorites with a sophisticated twist. Low Country shrimp and grits, deviled eggs, Blackstrap porkchop with sawmill gravy. The majority of the items will be sourced from the local area. The restaurant will have a glass wall so you can see food as it is prepared.
The Southern Shinebar will have a wide variety of beverages including legal moonshine. Desserts include southern style pies and cakes including something called Mockingbird Cake. I have never heard of this type of cake but after looking it up online, it sounds yummy. I will keep you posted as we find out more.
Which restaurant at Disney World have you always wanted to try but haven’t yet? Is it on your list for your next trip?
